In an interview with host broadcasters Star Sports, a visibly exhausted Maxwell expressed his surprise at his performance on the Arun Jaitley Stadium pitch, known for its conducive conditions for effective stroke-making. He shared, “I felt quite drained when I walked in to bat. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much due to my fatigue. But oddly enough, it seemed to clear my head a little, allowing me to go out there and play freely.” Known as “The Big Show,” Maxwell showcased his flamboyance, smashing nine boundaries and eight sixes on his way to the historic milestone. Ultimately, he concluded his innings with Maxwell remarkable 106 runs off just 44 balls, leading Australia to an impressive total of 400 runs.
