Gill accomplished this remarkable feat in just 38 innings, outpacing South Africa’s Hashim Amla, who achieved the same milestone in 40 innings. Gill’s record-breaking moment arrived in the seventh over of India’s chase against New Zealand, where he confidently dispatched a delivery from Trent Boult to the boundary, needing only 14 runs to achieve the milestone. Despite this achievement, Gill’s innings was cut short at 26 runs off 31 deliveries.

With six centuries and 10 half-centuries in 37 ODI matches for India, Gill has showcased his batting prowess. Remarkably, he stands as the highest run-scorer in the calendar year, amassing 1325 runs in 25 matches. It’s important to highlight that Gill encountered an early setback in the World Cup, sitting out India’s first two matches against Australia and Afghanistan due to dengue fever.
