In the broader context of Men’s T20 cricket, Nepal currently holds the top spot for the highest score, having achieved 314 runs for three wickets in the recent Asian Games held in Hangzhou. Following closely are Afghanistan (278/3 against Ireland in 2019), Czech Republic (278/4 against Turkey in 2019), and Melbourne Stars (273/2 against Hobart Hurricanes in 2022).

Furthermore, Punjab’s outstanding performance not only broke the national record for the highest total by an Indian T20 team, previously set by India in December 2017 when they scored 260 runs for the loss of five wickets against Sri Lanka in Indore, but also showcased their dominance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match. Opting to bat first, Punjab aggressively attacked from the beginning. Abhishek Sharma played a pivotal role, contributing 112 runs off 51 balls, embellished with nine fours and as many sixes. Anmolpreet Singh displayed remarkable aggression, scoring 87 runs off 26 balls with six fours and nine sixes. Despite Prithvi Raj Yarra, a former Kolkata Knight Riders player, managing to take two wickets, he conceded 63 runs.
